TPAC has access to the University of Tasmania's SGI Altix 4700 high performance computer.
This system consists of 128 Itanium 2 (1.5 GHz) processors, 320 GB main memory and 50 TB of disk storage. Further mass storage is provided by a StorTek L700 LTO2 robotic silo with a storage capacity of 20 TB.
The operating system installed on Whiteout is Novell SuSE Enterprise Linux v9, with SGI Propack 4.
